About Library Holdings The Library Holdings feature in the Dialog OnDisc for Windows software can inform you when material referenced by a Dialog OnDisc database is held by your library. Although the material referenced might be considered a journal, report, book, or other conference proceeding, these instructions will refer to them as journals. You will see immediate notification at the end of a record when the journal is available in house. During configuration, you can add additional information about the location or an alternate description of the cited material. How the software works
An XML file for each Dialog database that is to be included in the HOLDINGS.DAT file. Each XML file includes Regular Expression details for thorough extraction of the journal details from the Dialog database. (These XML files are supplied on the CDROM with each appropriate database.) When you run the LIBRARY.EXE program for the first time, a HOLDINGS.DAT file is created that contains the information you add about your holdings. This file is accessed by the ODWIN.EXE (DIALOG OnDisc) program. When the ODWIN.EXE program finds a reference to a cited journal in the HOLDINGS.DAT file, it displays the information at the bottom of the record. |
