Field-Level Search Assistance Added to DataStar New pop-up help screens for 49 databases have been added to DataStarWeb. The help text is available for both Easy Search and Advanced Search. By clicking a small "i" icon next to the search fields, a small, pop-up screen appears containing help that is specific to the file being searched. The Power of RANK Now on DataStarWeb Newly added to DataStarWeb Advanced Search, RANK is a powerful tool for analyzing your search results by counting the occurrences of unique terms for a specific field within a set of documents. It has many valuable applications, such as to find experts (most frequent author publishing on a topic) or monitor company activities (most frequent types of events reported; most frequent geographic location for contract awards; etc.). Just click the RANK option link next to the search set you want to RANK. Thesaurus Mapping Added to Engineering, Scientific and Other Files on DataStar Thesaurus mapping has been added to engineering databases on DataStar, including INSPEC® (INSP), Ei Compendex® (COMP/COZZ) and NTIS: National Technical Information Service (NTIS); also to Science Citation Index® (SCIN), Social Science Citation Index® (SSCI), Current Contents® (CBIB) and Global Reporter (REPO). Previously, thesaurus mapping was available only for large biomedical files. Thesaurus Added to DH-DATA and Kings Fund on DataStar A companion thesaurus database (DVOC) has been added for DH-DATA: Health Administration, Medical Toxicology & Environmental Health (DHZZ/DHSS) and The Kings' Fund Database (KFND). DH-DATA, produced by the U.K. Department of Health, is an abstracts database and covers from 1983 to the present. King's Fund, produced by the charity of the same name, is also an abstracts database covering policy and management of health and social care services in the UK from 1979 to date. Both databases share the same thesaurus. Alerts Default Frequency for EMBASE® Changes to Daily The Alerts default frequency for EMBASE (EMED/EMZZ) and EMBASE Alert (EMBA) has changed from weekly to daily for all new Alerts created on and after July 1, 2005. The frequency for Alerts created prior to July 1 has not changed. Available frequencies are daily, weekly, bi-weekly and monthly. |

FDAnews (FDAN), now available on DataStar, provides worldwide regulatory, legislative and business news for industries regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the European Commission. The database includes print and electronic newsletters, books, special reports, documents and conference notes that help pharmaceutical and medical device professionals stay in compliance with international and FDA regulations. The database updates daily and provides articles dating back to 2000. Please see the Datasheet for more information on FDAN. A new newsletter, The Healthcare Lobbyist, has been added to the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Industry News Database (PHIND) (PHIN/PHIC). The Healthcare Lobbyist is the first publication to provide impartial coverage of the political activities of worldwide healthcare organizations. The PHIND database is updated daily and Healthcare Lobbyist stories are added as they are made available by the PJB editorial team. Dialog NewsRoom Adds Major News Content Dialog NewsRoom, a continually updated database, now contains more than 11,000 sources of news reporting aggregated from 130 countries around the world. Many of the sources are archived up to 30 years. On DataStar 2005 articles are being added to the new NE05 database. NEWD continues to hold the current day's stories and NEWS the current 3-4 months of stories. Additionally, powerful new features (such as public and private folders) will help you simplify how your colleagues across your enterprise can utilize Dialog NewsRoom and share articles and reports found through the service. For details on new publications added, click here. A new file has been created for Il Sole 24 Ore (SOLE), containing content from July, 2005, to the present. Data from 1984 to June 30, 2005, is available through a new archive file, called SO05. The new SOLE file will have the same format as Dialog NewsRoom (NEWS). Because SOLE will have a different format from SO05, the two files cannot be searched together. Further, the new SOLE file updates the same day as publication rather than a day after publication. |
