Previously, users could only conduct a search in one file at a time in Advanced Search. You can still take advantage of the added functionality offered only in Advanced Search, such as the thesaurus feature, lists of search options, or quick codes, by searching one file at a time. You will also notice that the “A” button on the interface has been replaced by an “Advanced Search” button. You can see how the new feature works in the online version of Chronolog, Issue 4. Tabbed Database Groups Available on Customized DataStarWeb If you have a customized version of DataStarWeb, you can choose to organize the list of databases into groups and display them in a new, tabbed format. You may personalize the topic of each tab and choose which databases to be included in them. Previously, it was necessary to scroll through the entire database selection to pick the one needed for a search. Note: It is not mandatory to change to this new tabbed design. You can migrate at any time. For changes, please contact your DataStar sales representative. Sixty-Three Years of Agricultural Literature Added to CAB Abstracts Covering the literature from 1910 to 1972, CAB Abstracts Archive makes over 1,860,000 records on every aspect of agricultural science, veterinary medicine, nutrition and natural resources, available electronically for the very first time. CAB Abstracts Archive is fully searchable and has been re-indexed with modern terms to allow today's researcher full and immediate access to the research of the past. The Archive has been loaded into a separate file under the CA72 file label, which can be accessed by subscribers only. At the request of the publisher, the Archive is available either on a purchase basis (i.e., ownership in perpetuity) or on a site-license basis. Transactional access will not be an option until further notice. Customers that already have licenses to the current data of CAB Abstracts and buy an Archive subscription in addition will benefit from a super file label (CAXX) that allows searching across all data from 1910 to date. For any questions regarding the CAB Abstracts archive or the changes in database labels, please contact your account manager or the Knowledge Center. Prous Science Drug News & Perspectives Database (PRNP) Users Directed to Prous Science Daily Essentials (PREC,PRES) Prous Science Drug News & Perspectives (File 455/PRNP) ceased updating on November 1, 2005, but will remain on DataStar and Dialog as a closed file for the foreseeable future. Use Prous Science Daily Essentials (Files 458, 459/PREC, PRES) as a replacement for File 455/PRNP. Alerts set up in File 455/PRNP will be transferred to Prous Science Daily Essentials. Dialog NewsRoom Additions Several new sources populate NewsRoom on DataStar (NEWS): Market News Service from Market News International, a newswire dedicated to the global fixed-income and foreign exchange (FX) markets and equally relevant to the equity markets, provides news on monetary and fiscal policy, budget and tax legislation, economic indicators and forecasts, and financial market activities throughout the world. EurActiv.com is an independent media portal with in-depth coverage of EU policies. EurActiv's news stories are presented in a consistent way: title, abstract, background, main issues, different policy positions by stakeholders and next steps. |
