Dialog Profile Quick Reference Card

A Dialog Profile allows you to store SET commands for automatic execution each time you log on. SET commands allow you to modify different aspects of your search session. For a complete list of the SET commands, use the HELP SET command. A Profile is unique to the userid on which it is created.

Create a New Profile
1.BEGINin a free file.
(Free files include Chronolog® (410), Bluesheets (415), and any of the ONTAP® files.)

2.Type the command EDIT to enter the editor.

3.Enter the SET commands you want to use.
To switch to connect-time mode, type the command: SET CONNECT ON.
To turn off, type the command: SET CONNECT OFF.

4.After entering all of the SET commands you want, hit the ENTER key to return to edit mode.

?set hi on

INPUT:    30

Returning to EDIT mode

EDIT:
5.Type SAVE PROFILE to store your profile on your userid.

?save profile

Review Your Profile
1.Enter RECALL PROFILE.
This will show you the SET commands. The "SET CONNECT ON" line indicates that you have turned the Connect-Time mode on.

Edit Your Profile
1.Enter EDIT PROFILE to begin editng your profile.

EDIT:
2.Enter the letter L (for list) which will show you the lines in your profile. Make note of the line number you wish to edit; Line 10 in this example.

  10. SET CONNECT ON

  20. SET HI ON

EDIT:
3.Use the CHANGE command. The format is:
C <line #>/old text/new text
Ex., c 10/on/off for line 10, to change the text "on" to "off"

?c 10/on/off

  10. SET CONNECT OFF

4.You can use L again to review the change.

  10. SET CONNECT OFF

  20. SET HI ON

EDIT:
5.When finished making changes, type SAVE PROFILE.

?save profile

-->Replace "PROFILE"? 

(Y = Yes  N = No)
6.Answer Y to replace your old profile. (If you want to abandon the changes, you could answer N.)

Hint: If you only have one SET Command in your profile, it is easier to create
a new one.
