Dialog DataStar StarSearch™ Quick Reference Sheet

When creating a StarSearch, a multifile search in DataStar, begin by selecting one database to start the search. This could be a database you have determined to be the least expensive, or one that is most relevant to your search. You will spend the most time in the first database.

Once you have completed your search strategy in the first database and are satisfied with it, enter the command ..REPEAT or ..ADD (to change the search strategy). The search strategy can be carried out in as many as 59 additional databases. This exercise shows the ..REPEAT, ..ADD, ..COMBINE, ..DEDUP and ..SPLIT commands of a StarSearch.
