The following search strategy is derived from the toxicology-specific strategy NLM recommends for identifying toxicology records on PubMed. Although it is not a replacement for the former TOXLINE file, this strategy can be used to identify toxicology-specific records in the reloaded MEDLINE on Dialog. To use this strategy:

Copy and paste theToxicology strategy (all 24 lines) into Word. Make sure the list is size 8 font. Each search statement should be on one line only.

Lock the lock in the type ahead buffer in Dialog Link.

Click on the Edit button in Dialog Link and then click Paste.

Paste the list into the type ahead buffer on Dialog Link. Check the strategy to be sure it has copied over correctly and completely.

Remove extra character from the end of each line.

Unlock the lock and press the enter key. This will run the strategy. You may add terms needed to the last search statement of the hedge, which will be S24.

DataStar toxicology stratey can be found as follows: Go to BASE. Type TOXICOLOGY WITH STRATEGY. Type ..P HITS 1. The strategy and its purpose is then displayed.

If you will reuse this strategy, you may wish to save it as a text document (*.txt). After beginning the MEDLINE file, this saved text file can be loaded into the type-ahead buffer using the DialogLink menu commands "File, Load Type-Ahead Buffer" and then indicating the location on your computer of the saved text file.

For non-DialogLink users, each line of strategy can be copied and pasted individually into the command line of the product you are using.
